The Full Story
Following Kellogg College’s Conference on Sustainability Finance on October 28, 2022, the Oxford Commission on Sustainability Data (OCSD) was established to explore how data can be captured and disseminated, enabling consumers and investors to assess the environmental sustainability of a company’s operations—including its supply chains.
The Commission’s vision centers on empowering consumers to consciously consider the environmental footprint of their purchases and enabling investors to integrate sustainability into their decision-making processes.
The Commission is not merely about aggregating data — it aims to be a catalyst for change, sparking new conversations around sustainability and driving global action. It responds to the urgent need for comprehensive, reliable data to inform sustainable practices—achievable only if governments worldwide take coordinated action through COP and other international frameworks.
Based at Kellogg College in the University of Oxford, the Commission is chaired by Jonathan Michie, Professor of Innovation & Knowledge Exchange and President of Kellogg College, and comprises an interdisciplinary team of world-leading academics, working in collaboration with finance, accounting, and audit specialists across various sectors.
